Tarmac
Car Park

Project details

  • Project brief: At a recently renovated veterinary surgery in Charing, Kent, Ashford Tarmac was asked to transform the existing car park into a safe, durable, and aesthetically pleasing surface for both staff and clients.

  • Site Preparation: We meticulously levelled the existing sub-base, removing and carting away any unsuitable materials to ensure a strong foundation. The cleared area was then compacted to create a stable, even platform ready for surfacing.

  • Surfacing: Over the prepared base, we laid 60 mm of premium 10 mm SMA (Stone Mastic Asphalt).

  • This high-quality, high-density surface course was hand-rolled (or machine compacted) to ensure optimal strength and longevity.

  • Why We Chose SMA? Stone Mastic Asphalt (SMA) is especially suited for high-use areas such as car parks. Its robust structure offers; Superb durability under , vehicular traffic, Excellent resistance to deformation and rutting, A smooth, visually appealing finish that enhances the appearance of the premises.

  • Result & Benefits: The new tarmac surface provides a hard-wearing, long-lasting car park that can withstand daily use by staff and pet owners alike. By creating a level, safe parking area, we’ve reduced trip hazards and improved accessibility. Visually, the fresh surface brings a clean, professional finish that complements the renovated veterinary building, boosting kerb appeal and creating a welcoming environment.
